Skeleton Coast and Cape Cross Tour
We take you on a journey searching for skeletons along the skeleton coast. This journey takes you along the skeleton coast, pass the beautiful little fisherman town called Hentiesbay to the Cape Cross, home to thousand and thousand of seals.
We pick you up at your hotel just after breakfast. We make our way north along the Skeleton Coast. The Skeleton coast stretches 500 km from the Ugab river to the Kunene river in the North. We drive pass the Zeila wreck, about 15 km's before you enter Hentiesbay. Here our guide will stop for picture taking and a brief explanation around the history of this wreck. On we go, pass the beautiful fishermen town, Hentiesbay, founded by Hentie van der Merwe in1929. Hentie van der Merwe was a motor dealer from Kalkveld, in the central northern district of Namibia. On a Rhino hunting expedition in the desert, he stumbled on a fresh water spring in an old delta, and the rest is history. We end up at Cape Cross. Here the Portuguese navigator, Diogo Cao erected a stone cross in 1486. it is also home to over 200 000 cape fur seals. We spend enough time for you to wonder around and take it all in. We return to Hentiesbay, where our guide will set up a table of goodies for you to enjoy with sparkling wine while you cool off in the cold Atlantic ocean. We drop you off just in time for dinner at your hotel and we say our goodbyes, until we meet again, hopefully very soon :)
